5 Times Footballers Died Playing Football

There had been awful and tragic moments in football which have caused casaulties. Here are 5 such heart breaking deaths that had happened in football games.

Emanuel Ortega 

Cause: Head Collision with the wall
Nationality: Argentinan

Emanuel Ortega, 21 years old Argentinian footballer died due to a fractured skull in May 2015.
He was heavily injured due to the collision of his head with the concrete wall which enclosed
the football pitch. The shoulder-to-shoulder duel with the opposition player led the tragic incident.
He was pushed to the wall and the collision happened. He fell down and was unconcious. Immideatly he was taken to the hospital.
He died due to the injuries. The game was being played between San Martin de Burzaco and Juventud Unida.

Marc-Vivien Foe

Cause: Heart Attack
Nationality: Cameroon

In 2003, The Cameroon midfielder suffered one of the miserable deaths in football pitch. Cameroon was
facing Colombia during the Confederations Cup semi-finals. He suddenly collapsed in the field
during the 72 minutes. There had not been any kind of physical collision. The unsudden scene
at the football pitch lead every one at surprise.The death was caused due to heart condition He was taken to the hospital but could not be
saved.

Cristiano  Júnior

Cause:Collision with goalkeeper
Nationality: Brazilian

Júnior was the highest paid footballer in India, signed up for Dempo in September 2004.
The unsudden tragic incident happended in the same year in December. The game was being played
between Dempo and Mohun Bagan in the Federation Cup Finals. He scored his second goal in the game.
After scoring the second goal, he collided with the opposition goal keeper and collapsed to the ground. Later his
death was subjected to be a heart condition at the hospital.

Miklos Feher

Cause: Heart Attack
Nationality: Hungary

The Benefica striker, Miklos Feher suffered a awful death in the Portugese league game in the game against Vitoria Guimaraes. The 24- year old, young player entered
the game as a substitute. The game was in the injury time. He was shown yellow card
by the refree as he was accused of wasting time. He was seen smiling and uddenly he bent forward due to the pain and fell backward in the ground. He was immidieatly rushed to the hosptial but could not be saved. The news was viral in the Portugese media. Before midnight he died. Irregular heartbeat was the cause of the death. His statue was made to pay him tribute.

Peter Biaksangzuala

Cause: Celebration that injured spine
Nationality: Indian

The 23 year old player died after intensive care for days in the hospitl. Peter was trying to perform a celebration after he scored a goal for his team. Accidently he landed on his neck leaving his spine a heavy injury. The game was being played between Bethlehem Vengthlang, his team, and Chanmari West. Later he was taken to the hospital where it was confirmed that his spinal cord was damaged. Bethlehem Vengthlang  announced that they would retire Peter's shirt number, 21 in his memory.
